I am looking to replace the current trigger housing in my Garand with one made by the same manufacturer as the receiver.

Could someone please enlighten me what the term "modified pad" means in reference to the trigger housing.

Thanks in advance!

It is hard to explain without a picture. So, go here http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/m1-garand-winchester-d20290-w-r-a-trigger and check out the third picture. See that pad at the top of the trigger housing. That is "the pad". Early trigger housing had LARGE pads. Later housing has SMALL pads (the size shown in the picture). During rebuilds LARGE pad were made into SMALL pads. Thus the term "modified pad". Depend how original you want your rifle to be and when it was made will determine pad size. As for me size does not matter. It is how you use what you got that counts.
