a person asked me when did the M10 ross rifles start to have the rivett added to the bolt?

i found this---google info-

A rivet was put into late production bolts to prevent incorrect assembly and solve the bolt blowback problem.

SO, any idea on when / a rough date ?? was it before or after the ross was removed from front line service ?

any help welcomed.

According to the "Ross Story" Page 407:

"This modification was tested on a Mark III rifle on April 5, 1940, and found to be satisfactory. (17) The procedure was then applied to Mk III rifles in Canada during 1941 and through 1944. All rifles were not pinned, but an earnest attempt was made to do so. (18,19)"

If you need additional detail, I can post it up for you.

Or you can buy the book.
