BLUF: the rifle works with crappy ammo and runs smooth

Backstory:
I got the opportunity to try out one of the M10X rifles with nitrided barrels (18.6" for Canada and chrome lined hammer forged 16" for US) and upgraded trigger springs in the US. They are about to hit the Canadian market soon (as far as M+M told me).

I spent roughly 600rds through that rifle and was positively impressed by it. It did accept all weird and wonderful ammo that is on the market and run reliably. The rifle got tested with various mags and had no issues with any of them (PMAG, steel, Bakelite).

With the gas valve, I was able to control the gas flow, and ensured that on setting 2 (for dirtier/ inconsistent ammo) it would be reliable. The rifle did have a more violent ejection pattern on setting 2 but it did perform flawlessly with all types of ammo. The 4-prong muzzle brake was extremely helpful in reducing muzzle climb. The new barrel did improve accuracy and it was between 1.5-2 MOA on 100m. Yes, the range was limited where I was at…

Taking it apart, it was easy to clean the gas valve and gas spring/ piston and tube. Parts were stainless steel and nitrided. That apparently does improve resistance to corrosion and whatnot. The upgraded trigger spring does lead to better reliability. MLOK handguard looks sick as well.

My take:
I believe this rifle is a great weapon platform and has reached a stage at which it will be a great competitor to many other semi-automatic rifles. It runs great on various ammo, mags and can be adjusted if it does not. For me this rifle is a big plus for the Canadian market in a non-restricted version.

It’s shooting 1.5-2 MOA at 100 yards. Sorry but I have a very very hard time believing that claim. With what 7.62x39 ammo and please post pics of the targets. That’s better than most 7.62x39 bolt action guns. I’ve owned a Gen 1, my buddy owned both the Gen 1 and Gen 2. These rifles are complete trash.

Failures to feed
Failures to eject
Ejected bolt handles
Broken trigger return spring
Atrocious accuracy 6MOA+
Spent Rounds jammed in chamber have to be hammered out with a rod

POS guns

If I can buy one that is proven to be within a 2-4 moa ish rifle I'll buy another. Mine spit out groups that patterned worse than buckshot at 100. Mine ran flawlessly, just could barely keep on a full size rcmp torso target at 100.

Love the rifle, hate how it can't hit ####. Maybe having the receiver cover and barrel 3 separate units isn't ideal for tolerances.

Wow great info in this thread! I was convinced to pick one of these up but after reading this I think I'll wait. Does anyone recommend the wk 181 gen2? I had a 5.56 version and it was the worst rifle I've ever owned.....I might of just answered my own question

I'll probably roll the dice on one of these too. Hopefully they get them out there before ### boy gets anymore ideas.

I think the short handguard version in 7.62x39 looks cool. But I doubt they will be in the price range you expect. US price is over $2,2K, so you will know immediately when it is a gen 3. Honestly, the WK181 is priced so much lower and the reviews ain't that bad. I would rather roll the dice on one of those.

Might be unrealistic thinking.... But M+M would pretty much have to offer a money back guarantee for me to try one of these now.

That's true you could probably buy 2 wk181 for the price of a gen 3 mx10. I like the ak47 ish design and function of the mx10. If they got the issues that SOME of the earlier models experienced like they say, it will definitely be a far superior firearm than the wk 181.

Or buy neither the M10x nor the 181 and just buy more ammo and accessories for your other guns...... that's what the smart guy in the room would do

Haha, that's what I do. Or I buy another SKS or another stock for one of my SKS. Or just recently, I was able to buy a lot of Barnaul ammo - for my SKS's - shoots straight as an arrow. Very simple.
