M110- New US Army Sniper Rifle- Video - Heeere kitty kitty kitty kitty

Yeah, it's been a long time since 1957 when the US Gov't turned down the Stoner AR10 for the "Comeback Kid" M14. Now that USA is in hotter and sandier (than Vietnam) locations, the 7.62mm rocks and rolls.

Looks like a decent general infantry rifle to me....Kind of high profile for a dedicated sniper weapon.
No single shot/bolt lock option?

I'm not an M-14 guy, but is this really an improvement over an M-14 Nat Match?

Actually it is not a good general purpose infantry rifle. It is too long, too heavy, built to too high tolerances and in the wrong caliber.
It is a huge step past the M14 NM. More accurate, more ergonomic, and easier to maintain. Why would it need a bolt lock option? The whole idea of going to a semi is to allow faster follow up shots. If you don't want ejecting brass to disclose your position drape a little cloth over the ejection port.

This should prove far more accurate then any M1A. If Camp Perry is any indicator, the M1A/Garands have to run in their own division so one of these rifles can win. Otherwise, its an AR game.

I can only expect that scaling up to the AR10/Battle cal AR's will allow the same tweaks and accuracy potential.

AR's can now go 1/2 min or better at 100yds as an AVERAGE. Sub MOA at 600yds. Yep, they are the same as bolt rifles.

So why not have a much faster follow up shot and allow for moderate suppressive fire if the need arouse. Add in the ability to be as accurate as your favorite Rem tacky rifle for less weight, sounds good to me.

They make shell bags that attach to the rifle or forearm. Spent shell problem solved.

Airborn,

Did I see that scope mounted on one of your rifles?
I am curious what you think of it (sorry if it wasn't your rifle).

I'm eyeballing it for a LR hunting project.

I had one of those but it was a Chinese knock off, however my other was the real deal but a 4.5-14x 50.
