Trying to replicate the LC 118 load.
I however do not have the Lake City Military brass.
I'd like to know some of the caracteristics of that round and a recipe to replicate them with comercial brass.
AFAIK they used #2200 SMK 168gr and 4895 powder. Is this right?
As far as the primers go, I'll have to go with the hardest - presumably CCI #34. Anyone knows where to find these?

Much appreciated.

Wholesale sports, has had them. You might want to check Russell's too. If that fails try Rick at AlbertaTacticalRifle. Unless you are using these in semi auto just go with regular primers and save some hassle.

Even if you are loading for a semi, use regular primers. Duplicating factory ammo isn't as good as developing a load for your rifle. In any case, that ammo uses a 173 grain match bullet.

the loads are for the M14.
the #34 were supposed to be harder - the very reason I'm looking for them.
otherwise I use CCI 200.

Wholesale is usually out of the #34 primers, which I htink is a very good idea to use in a semi.

John Parsons is where I got mine...He is in the Lower Mainland, and posts here as curaco (sp?):)

called Wholesale..... a blondie answered.
She listened patiently to what I asked her for and then she said :
"Do you have an item number?"
I give her the thing.......
"Sorry, I don't have any 1000 primer packs in my inventory"
"but I can sell you 1000 of them from my 100's inventory"

- yes- says I - but it's more expensive. Could you match the price?

"No, I'm sorry - I can only give you the items as in catalog"
- but the %^@#%^ primers that oyu sell in 100s come in the bigger pack of the 1000. So if I buy the 1000 primers from you, I should get them @ the price you sell the bigger packs for !!!

"sorry - no"
Okay - 3$ up or down - not worth my time .

"There's something else - says the creature - shipping is 15$ plus the dangerous goods fee -17$ ....."
Hey - I might want to order some powder too, to make up for all the problem-fees with the shipping. How about it?

"they cannot be shipped together, so you'll have to pay the whole thing twice"

Okay - I NEED them - when do you think they'll be here?

" 4-5 days to leave the warehouse and another 5 to you."

How about that? I'm looking for a better supply of #34s now.
