m11a1 or sig p229

I've been really contemplating wether I should get another sig preferrably a 229 or the 228 m11a1. The extended barrel to comply with canadian laws...who is it made by? Is it from sig factory? Does it help accuracy? Do you think there is a difference between the american barrel thats flush? I ask because I want to know if I can rely on the reviews from us. I doubt there is much difference but if anyone has a the pistol and a 226...an input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a P229 and the extended barrel is made by Sig Sauer, not one of these other brands. The P229 and the M11-A1 (P228) are virtually the same. The M11-A1 is the army designation as it is used by the Army. I don't know if it is a Sig extended barrel on the M11-A1 or some other manufacturer so can't help there. Unless you want to pretend to be in the army and have one of there guns, I would just go with the P229 as they are virtually the same dimensions, internals, etc. Also, the M11-A1 is a little more expensive than the P229 (because everything is MIL-SPEC). But as they say, to each their own! I love my P229 and wouldn't trade it for anything! Just my 2 cents :)
 
P.S. No difference between American vs. Canadian few mm longer barrel. I guess ours could even be a little more accurate because it is longer thus more velocity! But don't quote me to it!
 
I was wondering the same things, and although I like the 229, I think like sigs look better with the barrel under the hood, so I bought a 226.
 
Talked to the SIG importer for Canada and he informed me that the M11A1 is not a SIG that is legally imported into Canada. Also it is not in the SIG catalogue, so not to sure where Questar is getting them from. SIG will not warranty them as well, because they are not legal to import into Canada, something to do with the barrel length. Obviously Questar has found a way to get them here as they have 5 of them. If interested in getting one, a little checking is in order.

They are imported with an extended barrel. I do believe that Questar does not use the Canadian SIG importer but brings them in from his U.S business. Perfectly legal. Not sure about warranty work, maybe Questar does it in-house.
 
I checked with Questar and the M11A1 are converted in the states and then imported to Canada. They also state there is no issues with the warranty on them. So, now there are two offical stories out there in regards to the pistols.
