M14/305 Flashguard removal question?

Couple questions.

What effect would removing the flashguard have on the M14? Basically not having one at all on the rifle.

What effect would cutting the flashguard down to 1inch have? It is 3 inches now(I think).

will not effect accuracy, but you shot will be seen from miles )))

It won't flash any worse than a .308 sporting rifle with a 22" barrel, and neither my accuray nor my POI changed noticably with or without the FE. I installed an A2 type FE (threaded the barrel 1/2-28), POI was noticably lower, and much less muzzle flip, plus it removed about 2" of OAL.

if a norc FS was cut to 1" would it maintain strength?

Do you mean: "Would it be as strong as stock?"
Unlikely, because you've removed material, and especially the 'ring' at the end.

Or do you mean "Will it be stong enough to withstand lots of firing?"
The 'Rinco FE is forged (like USGI), and I'd bet would be plenty strong, the cast repros with the bayo lug might not hold up as well.

I was thinking I kinda like the look of the AR-10T. It's a .308 without a flashguard.

you'd still have to put on a "navy" type front sight- or no iron back ups at all
