m14 .308 168 gr match grade ammo

Mine seemed fairlyl scetchy with 168g out past 300 yards
My Norc seems to like the 147 grain more than the 168.

I don't use factory, but my 168 HPBT handloads are no problem beyond 500 meters. Mine controls the 500m at Service Matches. I would say, it work extremely well for me.

apparently, down in the states...... they are now pounding 180 gr match bullets out of NM m14 rifles on the 600 to 1000 yrd ranges. BUT this is only accomplished with the use of the new NM grooved gas piston from sadlak and in G.I. spec gas cylinders.
thinking i might test this out.... i have a few spare oprods hehehe just in case

41.5 with H4895, CCI 200 primers, LC brass or IVIs, topped of by a Speer Match 168 HPBT, and an OAL of 2.800". It's the standard powder and charge recommended by everyone I found online that loads for the match M14.

I get 1 MOA at 100 meters. I score fairly well at the service matches at 500m using an IER 2.75x scope on my simple Norc against the AR race guns. I scored a 50.4 last year during the 500m snaps. The only time I get to shoot 500m is only during the match, so I am assuming that my rifle must be doing around 5-6" at 500m.

I can vouch for that load, kinda. I tried those bullets and got good results (around MOA, best groups a little less, average a little more). I then tried the Berger VLD's recently and oh man, they are sweet. Groups came way down, I'll get flamed if I say how small my average size was with a fairly stockish Norc!

My two main loads after much testing are:

41GR H4895, CCI BR-2 Primers (try them, I bet you'll group even better!), Lapua brass, Berger 168GR Match VLD (.512 BC!!!), OAL 2.800"

I also run the same load but switch to the 155GR Sierra Palma Match Kings and get similar results.

I can't wait for the spring to test out the loads at longer distances! :)

I'll try this in mine, my 7mm likes this powder as well thanks for the advise.
