Does ANYONE IN CANADA manufacture aftermarket barrels for M14/M305/M1A rifles?

With the current US export laws, trying to LEGALLY purchase anything for your rifle and bring it home is nothing short of ridiculous.

I would GLADLY pay more for a Canadian manufactured barrel rather than pay some of the fees that US companies and the US government charge just to export gun parts.

To my knowledge there are no M14 barrel makers in Canada.

With the amount of people buying Norinco M14s and customising them, there seems to be a pretty good market here.

But compared to a custom match bolt gun barrel, the making of M14 barrels would be a pain in the hindquarters. Also depends on how cost effective it would be.........

If you can put up with the export permit BS and the wait, the best best bang for your buck is the Douglas Medium and heavy match M14 barrels. They come 1 in 10" twist with 4 or 6 grooves.

Where did you order these barrels from and can they handle the US side of the transaction, i.e. export permits and such, for a fee?

If so, are the fees approaching those charged by Questar?

I'd be thankful for any advice you can give.

for exporting call leroy big valley gun works in Montana.... 85 bucks for the export and they will pin your mag for 5 bucks.... Questar doesnt officially pin mags for you.

Ultra afordable!!!!!!!!

IIRC, the Douglas barrel I had came from Brownells way before all this expoty/import crap.

GIve Brownells a call and they will tell you what is required.

Also have a read through this:

Importing & Exporting into Canada

The rules have changed for exporting firearms parts into Canada. We must now get export authorization for shipping both barrels and scopes to Canada. With barrels we are required to get an export license from the U.S. State Department. In the past Canada was exempt from this requirement but we now must get the license as we do with all other foreign countries. With scopes we are also required to get export authorization but it is through the Department of Commerce.

Before we are able to apply for an export license the end user (the purchaser) must get import authorization from the Canadian government. Individual purchasers may get this authorization on their own or to avoid the paperwork you may place an order through one of the importers listed below. Here are the steps to get that paperwork:

The document is an International Import Certificate issued by;

Export Controls Division (EPE), Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
Export & Import Controls Bureau
P.O. Box 481, Station "A"
Ottawa ON K1N 9K6

STEPS:

1. Obtain the paperwork from above agency
2. Complete and return paperwork
3. DFAIT will issue import paperwork
4. Importer submits paperwork (originals or certified copies) to U.S. exporter

Or just use Questar and see if they will import the barrel for you and handle all the paperwork hassles.Sometime paying the extra $$$$$$ is worth the headache relief........
