Anyone try the S&B (green and yellow box) in their M14?...It`s good brass for reloading and I want to be sure that it`s not loaded to a higher pressure that might batter to Norinco`s....

Edit: Forgot to mention it`s 147gr fmj non corrosive

The S&b is 180 grain ammunition , not really recommended due to battering of the op rod however i believe frontier had some of the 150 grain variety .

When i first got my m14 i put about 5 boxes of the 180 grain stuff through it without an issue but that was before i really found out that 150 grain is only recommended and on top of that i didnt look at my box correctly lol and wanted to try out my rifle .. my rifle is still going strong with just 150's though.

If you had to though you can turn the gas system off and just run it like a manual action rifle if your desperate to shoot.
 
I've been shooting the 147 grain S&B and my Poly seems to like it. Mind you I am still working on accuracy and figuring out my garand sights, but that's all shooter issues. :D
I'm sure there is 180 grain S&B, but sounds like the OP has the same stuff I do, 147gr.

Have some, average accuracy in my rifles. I have read several places brass thin. Haven't reloaded any yet. has anyone had experience with S&B brass and repeated resizing? PMC more accurate for me and brass fairly good.
 
I have a pile of this stuff (147gr FMJBT); completely reloadable. I find the case lengths extremely inconsistent.... so get ready to trim. As well, primers seat a bit toughly at first, so I also make the point to chamfer the pocket. It's a tough squeeze tho', at least the first time.

Interesting to note, the powder is a ball type! Similar to W748? ...I dunno, but the brass is fine.

Not accurate with my M14s, tho'! My gun shoots well with my handloads; hot factory seems to open the groups up.
 
The S&B 150FMJBT green/yellow commercial, shot well through my stock M14S. I believe it chrony'd right on about 2740FPS@15feet.

Groups were average, from what I can get over irons, but I did get pierced primers with the S&B. 1 out of 100 rounds(5 Boxes). The primers look soft and the strikes are deep from the M14.

Am saving the brass for reloading but none to date on that brass type.:)
