Any one done this???

In the middle of the front sling mount I was going to drill a hole tap the hole to receive a swivel and then mount a bipod there

good idea bad idea?

the chu wood stock may be to soft to hold that id personaly drill the hole and atatch it with a washer and a bold if you can, but i dont know all i know is i would not trust the wood alone to withstand the recoil

Not in the stock the steel for the sling mount or will it all rip off ??????

Or I could use the barrel clamp with the rail and attach a RIS bipod

Have a walnut stock on the way no need for a stock

Damn I must be tired edit twice also wrong section

Instead of doing all that drilling you could try something like the "stock front swivel replacement with rail" found at http://www.fulton-armory.com/MAParts.htm

I dont know if they ship to canada but it would make the bipod mounting easy to the rail and you could still use your sling. Or you could just get a USGI synthetic and remove the swivel and attach a bipod. There are instructions on how to do this in the battle riffles section i think. If you just drilled it yourself, like you were suggesting, it would likely hold as well i think...ive never seen it done.

Best thing to do (IMHO) is to buy a harris adapter for an AR15. Get rid of the sling swivel that currently sits on the front, then simply inlet the inside of the stock to recess the AR adapter so it doesn't interfere with the op-rod. Fill it with epoxy, and you've got a SOLID mounting point for the bipod.

Hard to explain, but if you wish, I can get you some pics. The Harris bipods put quite a bit of tension on the sling stud, so you want something very secure.

It's too bad that Fulton won't sell to Canada, as these little babies work great I just sold an extra one yesterday.
IMHO they are the fastest and easiest way to get the job done on a wood or GI FG stock. You just drill out the rivits, remove old metal, screw the new one in.....no inleting, epoxy. If you have a bi-pod with a 1913 mount like the GG&G or the Smith Ent. these are the ticket but with Harris you'd have to buy that stupid 1913 adapter.......with costs more that this little rail/sling.
