m14 Black Arrow Spring Guide

That is bizzare! I have a black arrow op rod spring guide and it works no problem, the only thing I can think of is somehow the spring itself is getting caught and bunched up on something and not allowing the op rod to move all the way back. can u put up some pics show where the bolt is and what the op rod and spring looks like

For the most part black arrow spring guides are pretty darn good.

I don't use them unless a customer supplies one with a build. Due to cost, mostly. There are other non-fluted options that are also Canadian made and come with a new USGI diameter spring.

I have had a couple that needed to be trimmed back so that the spring would sit flush in the half round recess in the receiver.

There is a certain "ex- site sponsor" that retails a stainless fluted guide. They always require a bit of a trim to fit! And they also start galling with spring movement and eventually cause short stroking.

Try to diagnose the problem. When you say the bolt won't go back in the receiver, why did you take the bolt out to install the new spring guide? Do you mean that the bolt won't close fully? Pics would help us help you.

Just a guess. Is your indexing out or oprod bent. I have seen a dominion arms socom that the indexing was way out and the oprod was bent so it would bind with a aftermarket oprod guide but there was enough play with the original one that it would work. Or maybe I donut understand your problem you are having

Hard to tell from that pic, it almost looks like something is stuck in between the bolt and receiver, but as Rdash it could be a messed up op rod or indexing, can u take a pic with rifle belly up on a table and show the full length of the op rod

can you take some clearer pictures, with multiple close ups of all sides of the rifle, not just the bottom. Include of the bolt is sitting in the receiver and engaged with the op rod.

the picture you posted is too blurry and dark to see any detail.

Sorry everyone, been at the cottage and all my toys are at home. Will post more pictures tomorrow.

I'm using a stock M305's. No issues with the original op rod spring and op rod spring guide. My problem is occurring when I install the BlackArow guide with the norinco spring.

I have the same issue. My Oprod binds at about the same spot. What I was told was to check the inside of your oprod for any metal burrs or imperfections the spring might be getting caught on and file them off if there are any(gently of course). If not, lightly grease the spring and inside of the oprod and the oprod guide. In fact, make sure the entire system is greased properly. If that doesn't work, check to see if the oprod is binding on the barrel where it widens out and attaches to the reciever. If it does, you're probably out of index or the oprod is bent or the oprod guide is not properly aligned. If this is the case, you can try tapping the oprod guide with a dead blow hammer which ever way it's out of alignment but I wouldn't go too hard on it. This is only what I could find online and I only have experience with one M305 so far so take this with a grain of salt.

My oprod is bent so I have to replace it before I can use the black arrow. I'm just running with the stock oprod until I get the funds saved up for another batch of parts. It seems to shoot fine for now so that won't be for a while.

Hope that helps.

the Black Arrow is meant to be used with the Norinco spring.

Oops....to tired today :)

The Black Arrow operating rod spring guide was designed to be slightly smaller in diameter to be compatible with both the larger USGI springs and the smaller internal diameter metric Norinco or Polytech springs. The M14.ca Black Arrow is the only ORSG in the marketplace with this unique distinction.
