M14 bolt shedding parts

Hi all, I bought my m14 from a friend a few years ago who told me it ran fine, but would break extractors somewhat frequently. I thought it would be fine so I replaced the extractor and put it away. I shot it a few times to try to zero a scope on it but I could never get it on paper... the other day I pulled it out determined to get it running game right. After 3 rounds paaatinggg! Springs and electors go into the wild. All the bolt had left was the firing pin.
Can anyone guide me as to how to fix this, and where I can buy the missing parts. I just want this thing to run reliably before I start messing with it to accurize it.
Thanks

Your bolt isn't assembled correctly. Consult Tony Ben's online M1A disassembly tutorials. The same thing happened to me the first time I dismantled the bolt, but didn't reassemble it properly. Tony Ben knows everything there is to know about this rifle. This will be a good learning experience for you.

Treelinem14.com is a great place for parts. In terms of your bolt disassembling itself, it is possible that the extractor piece that it is inserted into the bolt-body, protrudes below the bolt. If this is the case, when the bolt cycles, the protruding bit hits the receiver or hammer forcing the extractor up and out leading to bolt disassembly.

In this case the remedy is to file off the protruding metal. Bolt replacement is another option but bolts are expensive and likely require fitting/head-spacing.
