I just got finished mounting my SHG to my norc shorty. This is a high quality hand guard and I have no doubts it will hold zero. The fit is tight and it looks like it came on the gun from the factory. It definitely brought my m-14 into the 21st century. I have a strikefire red dot mounted on it and it is solid. Installation was a bit tedious but not difficult *if mounting on factory norc stock make sure it is all the way towards the receiver, not the muzzle* I made that mistake and it seemed to not want to fit into the stock and it didn't look as good, so i had to install it twice basically, but I got it and it's good now. You might also have to remove a small amount of stock material so there is clearance for the front and middle clamp mounting screws, although i'm not sure, I forgot how tight my norc is so it might not have been necessary, I think it was just the way my gun fits together that made me think the screws were hitting the stock, but it's ok because you can't see where i whittled down the stock with a box cutter anyways and a little extra clearance won't hurt.

Overall this is a very good handguard and the fact that it is made in our own country makes it even better, don't hesitate to send frank your money!

I received it today and mounted mine about 20 minutes ago, pretty straightforward install. It is on there good and tight. Very nice fit and finish. I ordered the FDE and it looks really good. Installed on a 2012 factory Norinco shorty and it works well. I was concerned it might not fit as I had read about shorty issues with the ultimak rail, but no issues here at all.

Clearance for the factory norinco stock was good. I had a similar issue with the screw heads clearing and realized that I had not tightened it down far enough as the actual metal bracket had not dropped into the countersink on the aluminum rail completely. Once fully tight it dropped right on. Can't see this coming loose.

I mounted an aimpoint comp c3 4moa on the factory low mount and it clears beautifully. Looks like somewhere between a lower one third and full co-witness. May have to rock this at CQB this weekend, just need three more mags.:dancingbanana:

I can see and use the irons in the lower 1/4 of my strikefire under the dot. and the red dot just sits slightly above the front post when using the dot. I am extremely happy with the rail. Best of all I got rid of that trashy stock hand guard! I also got the black arrow spring guide which is nice to.

I have spare mags you could use since I will be at CQB this weekend too. Looking forward to seeing more people with M14s at CQB.

Very nice!
Do your shorties come with a taller Bush/Scout front sight?

I was informed that my FDE SHG shipped yesterday

Taller front site was on the rifle, but I am guesstimating the co witness set up as I currently have no iron sights on the rifle at all.

Saw this thread yesterday and I was hoping to get mine today, well I had a nicesurprise in the mail when I came back from work.

Got some pics for you guys.

Looking forward to showing it to you on Saturday, looks like it is going to be a solid setup.

I ran my rifle through the morning practice at the Service CQB on Saturday and it ran like a champ (Thanks to Hungry for the clinic prep last fall! ) no hickups no issues that were not shooter induced at all.

Optic mount stayed tight, Aimpoint held zero and all was well with the install. Very nice compliments from the other shooters and there could be some more orders on the way from a few folks.

Big thanks to 308 TR shooter for the loan of the magazines! He really knows his way around the rifle and has super fast mag changes and a really nice guy as well.

Still have not taken any shots of the setup but some are definitely on the way!

Just installed the scout mount. Mounted a Leupold LER. Went to the range (5 minutes away) after zeroing in I noticed no movement at 25, 50, and 100 meters. Really impressed with the quality.
