Norinco M14 failed 'ping' test on the fiberglass stock, it doesn't ring at all. where should I start to finger out the problem? It did ring on the original stock. Thanks.
Is there part of your stock touching the op rod? You may want to look at your hand gaurd as well. I had to shave down my hand guard so it wouldn't touch the fiber stock. But there was a nice gap between the HG and the mystery wood stock.
Normal - All I've tried have a lower decibel and duration ping in fiberglass (more dense than wood), but shoot better. If the G.I. fiberglass is worn in the bedding area it can easily be shim bedded and still out shoot wood. All the ones I've tried do.
Be sure there is nothing contacting the stock that shouldnt though.

A really tight m14 will make a ping sound when the safety goes on/off, then the hammer falls, when the bolt flies home, etc. Sounds really cool. I have heard that it is an essential part of a match grade m14, but I have also taken m14s from the box, tightened them up, and found they got worse.
bedding mine reduced the ping and the groups went down buy 1.5 inches with the same ammo.it rings more when fired and pings less when worked by hand?but it shoots beter yaaaa!
