M14 Gas spindle question.. Manual action ok?

Hi there.
just curious,
If at some point I feel like trying out using my M14 in non-semi auto mode, by turning the gas spindle valve screw to horizontal position, is this alright?

it doesn't create some bad amount of pressure or something does it?

It will not harm in any way.

no damage to your rifle. But it will be hard as hell to eject the spent casing, at least it was for me.

all you're doing is pumping the gas out the barrel end rather than the small diversion to the piston to make the rifle cycle- but there's no advantage to it unless you're launching grenades or firing lines or grapples- unless you want to use 180+ grain bullets, which there's no logical reason anyway- and it'll be a b*tch to open and cycle as there's only the tab and not a decent bolt handle
