Hi Folks,

Just tested out my KCI 5/20 that the wife bought me for Xmas.

It's a bit hard to fit in then the Norinco one that came with the gun, and works fine until the last round.

At the last round, it either:

1 - jams the bullet tip in the receiver above the barrel
2 - Cartridge comes flying out as if it was ejected from the extractor or stovepipes (new cartridge, not fired)
3 - Cartridge is out of the magazine feed lips, hanging out on top of the magazine uncontrolled, and the bolt is locked back as if it was an empty mag.

So my question to you fine gents, is this a known thing with KCI M14 mags, and is there there a fix?

Thanks!

I have no experience with KCI rifles mags, only with those for Glocks, but it has to be a geometry problem with the magazine. Since it only happens with the last round I would look first at the follower, as it is only with the last shot that the cartridge is supported by the follower.

You say it's hard to fit into the gun, can you tell if it is a length or a width problem with the box of the mag, or an issue with the catch or something else?

I had a couple KCI mags and they were garbage compared with Norinco and SAI mags.

The heat treat on the ones I had were poor and the feed lips would deform under load, causing misfeeds and jams
