Hey guys,

Recently I picked up a Norinco M14. My rifle has a USGI walnut stock and a fiberglass upper handguard. The upper handguard is loose and moves around a bit both forward and a little rotation left/right. Is this normal? If not what is the best fix?

Thanks!

This is solved by adjusting the handguard tabs at the front. These are on the gas cylinder band/plate. This eliminates rotational wiggle.

For for and aft movement, once tabs are adjusted, use a steel epoxy putty to bed the handguard nose. Be sure to degrease and lightly sand the handguards front flange and apply a film of oil to the. Gas band and wipe away. This will ensure good adhesion to hanguard without gluing it to the steel. A high temp steel epoxy or similar, is recommended.
A loose handguard can theoretically affect barrel harmonics in this platform.

Excellent! Thank you very much!
