M14 / M305 with Boyds goodness...

Bah, still two weeks 'till new stock on the UTG rails :)

I love the sounds M1's make. If I had the money, I'd want a Garand alongside my M14.

You coming to the service rifle match on Sunday at Spruce Grove?

11am - 5pm (usually doesnt go that late anyways)?

I haven't even sent my papers for membership in yet :(

But I am trying to make time with BkP99 to make it out just to get help zeroing everything and check out cool rigs.

Prismatic

Finally got around to getting everything put together for this next M14 project that I will be using in the service rifle matches this year...

Gun is tuned by Kevin (and Scott Im sure) from Dycor here in AB...
Trigger group has been brought down to 5.5lbs..
Op rod spring guide installed and all that fitted good stuff..
Headspace and gas cylinder clearance has been checked...
Front and rear sights have been brought to NM spec...
Stock to be bedded..

I have also added in the Boyds Peppermint laminate stock and a UTG tri rail. I have left the sides off the tri rail as I wanted a cleaner look to this gun rather then anything too tactical.

Quick note.. this stock and configuration is HEAVY... you really know you are holding a battle rifle with this gun. I always thought the Garand was a beast, but it feels like a toy now in comparison. Its perfect for my bear hands...

I will be putting either a Leupold Prismatic or Aimpoint on this gun when the funds allow.

Im also not sure about the front swivel area, if I should keep the stock rivet / sling loop or put in a rail.. time will tell I guess..

Leupold prismatic wont work with your forend rail - It has standard eye relief, needs to be less than 3 " from your eye:(:(

Dont need to be a member... Just bring 20 bucks and yourself and you can shoot in the match. Its just the equivalent of a day pass to the range, except you have to stay on range 1 for the service rifle stuff. You cant shoot anywhere else. Scott usually has enough guns there for everyone anyways even if you don't have something that would be classified as service rifle.

I'm not a member out there yet either....

And that sucks about the prismatic. Aimpoint or Reflex it is I guess....
