Yes, try a search, and I am looking, but not finding it,
just a quick question though, if a m14 is non restricted, is there a restriction to the mag limit?
Thanks

Any semi-automatic center-fire rifle has a maximum magazine capacity of only 5 rounds. It does not matter if the rifle is restricted or not.

Pistols have a maximum capacity of 10.

All semi-auto centrefire with exception of the garand, is subject to the imposition of a forced limit of only 5 rounds. Regardless of restricted/unrestricted.

EDIT: posted at the same time

hmm, I have much to learn, because I have a .22 I was shooting at the range the other day, and it had that tube that holds 10 rnds, I am assuming I was breaking the laws then.
Heck, I dont even know what centrefire is, I have alot of searching to do.

Oh, don't forget the Storm and 9mm AR's that can have 10 rounds in the mags, as long as they are certain mags. Don't ever try and make sense of our laws, they can't be deciphered.

You guys really should read my Newbie FAQ section. the link is in my signature line below. I wrote it just to answer questions such as these.

you do have a lot to learn; at least you're in the right place; .22 is rimfire, not centre fire; thus mag capacity is unlimited.

22s are exempt so are bolt action

Fwiw, I don't seekah is a troll. Just new to the firearms community. :)

+2 on getting that pal bud!

I challenged the PAL test, passed with flying colours, and still didn't know the mag capacity laws. I assumed all rifles were limited to 5 rds, including 22LR. I also assumed that all shotguns were limited to 3 rounds because that's what the old fart at the local gun shop kept telling me.

If none of your family or friends are gun owners, it can be quite a challenge figuring everything out.

Welcome to CGN man, these forums are an incredible resource for a new shooter. Just remember, the FAQ and newbie sections basically have everything you need to know already written in them. Which reminds me, never ever tell the guys in the black rifle forums that bullpups are prohibited!! Some of them might snap clean in half!!

"...shotguns were limited to 3 rounds..." That's a hunting regulation. Sometimes 'old farts' just stink.
"...I assumed..." Get a copy of the laws and read it. You'll need the Firearms Act, the Criminal Code and the Ontario Hunting regs.

same, I took a bunch of firearms stuff in cadets along time ago, so challanged the test too.
I am a proud owner of a very nice black gun, and more toys to come.
The test didnt really answer much questions though.

Well, each day I learn something more, thanks for the help guys.

Tests are not supposed to ANSWER questions, they ASK them!!

Don't count on a judge seeign eye to eye with you on that. Even if the mag says that it is a pistol mag if it's found in a rifle it won't take the judge long to decide that it's a rifle mag.

I'd like to see someone deliberately get themself charged and try this defense out in court. Maybe I'd be surprised at the outcime, but I doubt it.
