I enjoy shooting my m14s but hate scrambling for mags. There just has got to be a more efficient manner for storing and carrying.
I have seen a number of double mag pouches but the carrying rigs not so good. Try to go prone with a bunch of mags on your chest and see how comforable that is, of course if you only stand or kneel all is fine.
So Folks what do you use and how well does it function? Pictures, links and evaluations are appreciated.

The old Canadian forces 1982 pattern webbing works great. This is the solid green stuff. Anyhow, I'd get the belt and a couple of the mag pouches for the C7, but I'd ditch the butt pack, canteen, and shoulder straps. You can wear the belt low on the hips if you're also wearing a backpack with a waist belt. The belt was selling at a surplus store near where I live for $10 and the mag pouches for $5 but you really had to look through the bin to find good ones. The C7 mag pouches are almost a perfect fit for the M-14 5/20 mags and have a pull tab to help you get them out of there quickly. 2 mags per pouch. Anyhow, if you're looking for something cheap that works and gets the mags off your front, there you go.

I wear this setup hunting with one of the larger pouches for extra bits and pieces, a gps, flashlight etc. and a small MEC backpack with a camelbak and survival gear (bivy bag, ranger blanket, fire kit, etc) in case I get lost or stuck for the night. You couldn't pay me enough to wear the 1982 pattern butt pack, shoulder straps or canteen.

I'm thinking about upgrading this system to put everything on a molle vest, but I'm undecided.

For M14 mags, CZ Mags, shotgun shells, etc. I use the small "old style" Canvas haversacks...

I picked up a few in black and OD for $7 bucks each.

They fit a dozen M14 mags with room to spare...

...I did mod them by strengthening the strap and the anchor points on the bag itself with nylon "web" straps as a bag full of ammo weighs quite a bit.

there are SOME c7 mag pouches out there that are too tight to fit an m14 mag- best advice- take a mag with you and try it- i have one such mag pouch that will take a 30 round m16 mag, but b/c of the little plate on the back of the m14 mag, there's no way it'll take a 14 mag- even the ones on my alice take a 14- i use it for carrying my 2 meter ham rig- the surolus stores don;t allow refunds/exchanges, so you're stuck with

This is the rig i've been using for service matches for my m14. It's a Condor vest I picked up in the US. It works well for prone for me because I positioned the right mag pouches allot more right on the vest and center opening helps. I don't have my m14 mags on the picture because we were about to do the pistol match.

Why are you talking about C7(M16) mag pouch when C1(FNFAL) mag pouch for the same webing fits perfectly?

Because that's what they had at the surplus store. I didn't know that the C1(FNFAL) mag pouch fit perfectly, and there weren't any to try at the store. As it stands, all the C7 pouches I have work well and the price was right.

Some good info to know about the C1 pouches if one were to order them without being able to try them out first. Thanks for sharing, hopefully someone gets some use out of it.

Any MOLLE vest will work with a HUGE variety of options for both magazine pouches but as well other pouches.

At The Front .... they carry new prefect reproductions of the original World War 2 BAR belts, not sure if they are in stock now but its the best money can buy.
