I just popped the pin out of the guide to remove it for installing my scope mount. Pin popped out no prob but I cant seem to get the clip guide to slide out (to the left Im told, although I've tried both). I've tried moderate hammer tapping, though I'd check for suggestions before I bust out the big hammer and torch.

Thanks Brad

From the inside of the receiver, insert a 3/32 diameter or slightly smaller punch and gently tap the spring pin out. Do not attempt to remove pin by pushing it into the receiver because of possible burrs on the inside. Next, support the left side of the receiver with a block of wood. Gently tap the stripper guide on the right side only. Stripper guide is removed from right to left.

ii. CAUTION: Care should be taken not to use excessive force to remove pin or stripper clip guide. It may cause the receiver to crack or other damage to occur.

There was a gent at Hungry's Ottawa clinic that was doing the very same thing. Can't recall his CGN name. Claven2 was guiding the process and assisting. As I recall the gent had to put a serious hurt on it to remove it. No heat involved.

I watched that video yesterday. Thats how I did it, but mine did not slide out after the pin was removed. I've tried supporting it on wood and using a drift to free it, I'm am concerned that any more brute force could as Norton said "cause the receiver to crack".

I was at hungry's clinic as well and it was Claven2 that assisted in the removal of the clip guide. I have taken them out as well, (but just recently put mine back in).

Put the receiver on a block of wood and hit the pin like it owes you money.

It will come out and the block of wood should take the force and not crack the receiver. Just make sure the piece of wood stays relatively intact. If it starts to split and breakup, use another piece of wood.

i had the same tight guide problem, i did use a block wood and a tiny ball peen hammer to tap it out. it took a while. Small taps no hard hits, will take 2 mins or so.

Try putting a little bit of machine tool oil in the stripper clip guide. It sounds like it might have seized up after installation at the factory. A little bit of oil should help, if not, get out the Liquid Wrench.

penetrating oil and a sever beating on a drift (while supporting the receiver on wood) got it done

Thanks

Brad

Running into the same problem. Really happy the search function on CGN actually works now. I'm going to WD40 the **** out of it and hopefully tap it off.

Wooden blocks and a 4 lb dead blow hammer is your friend. Darn, those high school zhop klass kids in Zhina! I cannot ever remember an M14 or M1A where I had to pound the stripper clip guide out with Ninja warrior samurai force.

Break out the Holy Hammer of Stoppage (from ORA CQB matches)....

Cheers,
Barney

Jammed mine in my leather padded vice and hit it with a 3 lb hammer and a 3" length of 1/2" square brass stock. It was stubborn to be sure.

Me to and it worked. Was so damn tight. Just needed a little more force that i would have liked to use but it eventually came out.

Success.

A block of wood WD40 and a 2lb framing hammer were the weapons of choice. Hungry I hope my hammer was big enough to make you proud. As far as I know my #### hasn't fallen off.

What I found was metal shavings filling the gap in the slot. My guess is they put the clip guide on and then drilled the roll pin hole... WD40 is the best, right after duct tape.
