I ve been looking around on web sites in Canada and have seen very few M14 parts and add ons. Now I do know that there are hundreds of M305 owners out there and most of us love to supe up our guns with new and better parts. Now since we as gun owners can not get parts imported from the U.S. anymore there is even a bigger market in Canada for M14 parts.

So let us M305 owners show the Gunshops and sellers that there is a HUGE demand for these parts and show them we will Buy them if they start carrying them.

So Let the Wish List begin:)

Maybe someone could start making some good steel scope mounts instead of the aluminum ones. Fiberglass stocks would be nice too, and E2 style pistol grip stocks. I feel these are the two things that are really in short supply domestically and would have a good market.

How about A Wolf M1A/M14 spring kit and Gas block shims am sure a retailer would have no problems selling thoughs

"...very few M14 parts..." An M305 is not an M-14. Neither is an M1A.
"...add ons..." Like what? There aren't many to begin with.
"...a HUGE demand..." There isn't a huge demand. Compared to the demand Stateside, the Canadian is tiny. In any case, it's not the U.S. gun shops and sellers that are not wanting to sell parts outside of the U.S. It's the U.S. Dept. of State's export permit that requires an import permit to get .
"...Fiberglass stocks..." They're not that great. They cause excessive muzzle jump. E2 stocks aren't common anywhere. Even the U.S. military dropped them, 50 or so years ago.

Well for an owner to get a export import permit its a pain because were getting only afew parts. But if a retailer get a permit to get in a bulk order its less of a pain considering he will make a good profit.
I know a M14 is not a M305 or M1a but who cares since most of the parts are the same.
And for there not being a huge demand well thats the point of this post to find out if there is.
So far its only been one day and 51 of you what to see more parts:)
So there is a demand for it

Not sure about you guys, but my norc says M 14 on the side. And save for the lack of the notch in the cocking handle/op rod and the assorted the auto parts, it is an M14. Even the auto function was of dubious value in this rifle.

And as for add ons. While not as many as the AR/M16, there are lots. Better rear and front sights. Scope mounts, different barrels - heavier, shorter, stainless, aftermarket stocks, competition grade trigger mechs, recoil buffers, rubber butt pads, bolt catch, op rod guide, cheek pieces etc.

Realising that it is an offence in the US to ship certain firearm parts or items over 100 bucks, the first thing I always do is ask them if they ship to Canada and if there are any conditions. I have ordered stuff from Gun Parts Guy, Freds, Red Dog with no problems in receiving the items paid for in a timely manner. But I do realize that at any time they could say no.

Unfortunately, in a moment of weakness I sold my TRW M14. Silly me, now I'm no longer in the "club"! But I do have a Springfield M1A. I still remember that cheap chinese junk that Lever's sold 15 or so years ago, so I haven't looked at them since.

Unfortunately for you, the current batch of Norinco "M14s" surpass the S.A. M1As in value, and affordability.:p ;) :D

Springfields currently have cast recievers and many cast parts that are sub-contracted out (read "off-shore"), while the Norcs have a forged reciever that is truer to USGI specs (they compare to TRW recievers!!!) then the M1A.

While the M1A are finished nicer, they are WWAAAYYYYYY too over priced.

I am looking at manufacturing a bayonet lug to add onto the flash hiders that don't have them. After I get this sorted out, I will be trying to manufacture a slip on muzzle brake that uses the bayonet lug to lock onto. I can also look into manufacturing a three point scope mount made out of 4140 steel.

Right now I don't have the equipment at home and my company frowns upon 'government jobs' being done at work.

I do believe there is a market for M14 type options and want to fill this niche in Canada. It is just a matter of time before things get up and running. I'm sure there are others that feel the same way and have the talent for doing so. If there are other smaller parts that you would like to see, just list them. I will note these and see what is involved in making them.

Well so far 72 people on this form want to see after market parts.
If all 72 people buys an average of $100 on parts from a retailer he will make $7200!!!!!!!! and trust me gunnutz will spend more then that on gun parts.
I ve seen Rooster,Smithtac,Marstar and wolerinesupplies carry afew upgrades for the M14/m305/M1A and They will be seeing my Cash in the future cuz of it:)
buying gun stuff is like smoking once you start you cant quit lol

For businesses to manufacture M14 parts or even import them into the country, there is going to have to be WWWAAAYYYYYY more interest then 72 people.

Imported USGI M14 and aftermarket parts are going to probably cost a lot more then what the members here are used to seeing because of added permit fees and mark up required to make this worth while.

An average of $100.00 per person doesn't buy much in the way of M14 parts.Maybe a Op Rod Guide or oversized bolt release.

Out of that $100.00, probably 75% to 80% is the items cost to the business.

The most common parts people are looking for are decent quality scope mounts, and USGI bolts/triggers.These items are in the $260.00 to $400.00 range each.

IMHO, I wouldn't hold you breath for easily accessible, or cheaper M14 parts in Canada.

I have been in the M14 game for quite a while and have only see prices go up, and parts get scarcer.

I did a poll a while back on who all owned a M305/M14S. I think there were damn near 200 members on here that replied to the poll and some opf them (like GG&FB and Skullboy) have what I call Hungryitis ie owning several examples. As I recall from the pics there were few that were box stock, with most having a GI glass stock and several scoped. Then there were a few with Sage stocks (not many) and a few DIY guys like Lazerus and Turf and myself (now) with our own home-customized stocks.

I am not looking for cheap parts and I know There going to mark up the price but at least I can get the parts I want. I dont mind paying extra for good stuff.
Would it be easyier for a Springfeild armourys dealer to get in new SA parts in too Canadian incase I brake something?
If not I'll have too buy afew m305 for parts lol
