M14 question??

I see a lot of pics of what seems like current military using M14s. Are they still being issued and for what role?

The US employs many in the middle east, in use as designated marksman's rifles, and other roles where a 7.62 is deemed superior. A few companies such as Smith Ent are making big bucks redressing old and weary M14's into new roles such as the 'Crazy Horse' rifle. In recent years there's been a revival of sorts for the M14, with accessories like the Sage EBR and chopmod (M14 chassis/stock systems modernized to provide better ergonomics and recoil characteristics, as well as 1913 standard rails). It's got a good amount of life in it yet
