Just wanted to ask those that hunt with their m14.

The most noisy part on mine is the operating spring. (apart from firing)

Is there a replacement spring part that is silent ? (I just hear the spring cracking like an old matress)

Is it possible to make that gun silent to operate ? I think that the bolt and operating rod are praticly silent if not slammed. (without the spring , you can make very little noise..)

You have the original thin spring-guide right? Get a NM spring guide from Marstar (chinese?) or Fabsports (Sadlak). It should silence and smoothen your rod cycling.

Yup, with Fabsports you'll also get it in about an hour (joking, but he's CRAZY quick, he must be on CRANK)
Recoil buffer as well ;) Buffer Technologies or Marstar

If you want a recoil buffer, I have one for sale. The bolt was made to stop on it's back, not on the bolt roller. There's a thread talking about it here this week.

Dont use recoil buffer in the m14 f:P:

agreed, recoil buffers in the m14 are a gimick and prevent the rifle from cycling fully as designed.
marstar guide rods are designed for the chinese springs
if you go the sadlak route, you will need an aftermarket spring, usgi or wolfe.
NM spring guide rods will smoothen out the action somewhat, but first be sure the noise you are hearing is not being caused by the oprod tube rubbing the spring. this can be caused by a slightly bent oprod or a misaligned or loose oprod guide.

oh ya..... and did I mention..... recoil buffers in the m14 are as useless as titz on a bull
