M14 Scope Mount Sadlak vs Arms 18

Hello,

I am considering getting a scope mount on my Norinco M305 (my big project gun) and I was wondering which mount would be more recommended by our large m14/m305 community.

I have put it down to the Sadlak Airborne Mount vs Arms 18 mount.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the mounts as I have heard contradictory information about both mounts.

For some they swear by the Arms 18, and others hate it, it is a lower mount and is available at Wolverine Supplies

For the Sadlak mount is considerably more expensive, less people against it, however it is a higher mount.


I want to keep my rear sight intact so sadly the M14.ca mount is a no go.

Leatherwood has a mount as well. It allows for the rear site to be used.
 
The new m14 offers a peep hole in the mount that is supposed to function as a rear sight. As far as I can tell it will work just fine. After installing this mount properly I think it will be really good. You should reconsider.

I agree. I turned down the M14.ca as well cause I wanted my sights intact. I tried the ARMS 18 but had too many stovepipes. I settled on a trijicon TA70 mount which gave me more contact points and longer rail providing better eye relief and a far better concept ( ARMS 18 for sale).
 
To the OP. if you buy a Sadlak Mount you will not be disappointed. I've had my Airborne for about 3 years now no issues.
If you follow instructions you can zero horizontally and throw in 10 to 20 min of elevation as you are setting up the base.
 
arms 18 will most probably require you to fiddle with your ejector and extractor springs. The mount sits really low over the receiver and casings will bounce off it and get jammed by the bolt. Get the Sadlak or other quality mount that sits higher. Thats the only real downside i had/have with my arms 18.
 
I have had a CASM mount and I now have an ARMS 18. I switched out because I also wanted to retain my rear sight and to use my scope with QD rings. I think the only real advantage the ARMS has is how low it sits, which is why I got it. Using irons its really like it isn't there. In my opinion its worth the possible issues, which can be fixed easily by modifying the ejector spring. Personally I have yet to see if I have any issues, I haven't been able to shoot for a while.
