M14 scope questions

i have decided to purchase a Leupold MK4 3.5-10x scope for my M14. I'm going to give the M3 turret adjustment model a try on this rifle, as that turret seems impossible to get lost on unlike my MK1 sometimes. My question is does anyone out there have one of these scopes and how do they find the illumination in them. I am wondering if I should purchase the illuminated or non-illuminated model. There is quite a price difference between the two, and I'd like to hear from guys who own one before laying out the cash. Thanks!
