Just put a scope on my M14 which prints two inch groups, but the problem is I have run out of elevation adjustment on the scope , Put a higher set of rings on and still not high enough,How do I get the front of the scope up??

Higher rings should be irrelevant to the situation. You need to get the front of the scope down. Assuming you have installed the scope mount correctly, and not over tightened the front support screw, you need rings that provide offset. Burris Custom Signature Zee rings are available with plastic inserts that will lower the front ring and raise the rear, which is what you need to do to increase elevation.

The Burris rings will compensate for the scope being crooked in the rings, the shim won't, it will make it crooked, and you will risk damaging the scope tube.

1) If you put a shim in the rear, how will you properly tighten the scope ring? It won't fit properly now. 2) If you raise the rear and keep it level, now the scope tube has to bend to fit two parallel surfaces at different heights 3) If the scope tube doesn't bend, now it faces downward at the front on a flat base that will only make contact at the front. When you properly tighten the ring it will cut into the scope tube.

If might work out fine, but I wouldn't waste my time with that sort of solution, or risk damaging a scope tube.

I have found the problem.Someone has filed the forward slot on the top of the base down allowing the scope ring to drop down ,Not the scope rings or scope that is The problem. I got the base second hand and its been bauba, Going to see if I can build up the forward mounting slot on the base.

may also want to try a rail with moa built in ....

had the same issue a while back, my solution was to use a picatinney rail 20 moa to be specific ....
