M14 spare part

Probably a good idea to have a spare extractor and firing pin, as well as a spare set of springs.
 
Iv put about 1000 rounds through mine and never had any thing fail. Depends If you can stand to wait a week or so for parts to be shipped or if you need your rifle good to go always.
 
You might be best off to pick up one of the complete Norinco bolt assemblies that seem to come up on the EE from time to time. They seem to sell for around $60.00. If it headspaces properly with the spare bolt, you can have a drop in replacement in your range kit. Myself, I am yet to experience breakage in my Norinco M14s. About the worst things that have gone wrong were the gas nut came loose at the very beginning, when I probably didn't tighten it properly, I've had some surplus 7.62 that was fussier about having the gun well lubed, and it needed cleaning and relubricating, and the odd stovepipe with certain ammo sometimes.
 
I routinely take my m14 hunting. So it is exposed to road/trail mishaps, vibration, all kinds of things.
Also when I'm away on such adventures, I am. Far from my work bench and spare parts.
So my "field kit" contains:
Spare gas plug
Spare piston
Spare oprod guide and mag release roll pins
Spare bolt internals
Spare front sight
For tools
.30 cal bore snake
Standard issue combo tool and rods
Chamber brush
Bolt assembly tool
Bottle CLP
Grease pot
Screw driver and allen keys for sights adjustments
Extras
Notes on my rifles sight adjustments.

You could just bring a spare rifle, that way it's pre-assembled! ;)

Win model 70 classic sporter with b.o.s.s. brake and rapid z scope. It's a reach wayyyyy ot there rifle in 7mm rem mag :D
As much as I like the m14 and love hunting with her... There are some jobs that are reserved for my precious Winnie ;)
 
Hunt with Enfield, no need for spare parts. I recently upgraded to a Ruger Scout, which isn't as good as an Enfield but it's stainless / laminated DM 308 with a forward rail so it's good enough. This year I may hunt with my 870 because I can fit it all into my backpack.

For an m305 spare parts kit, it's mostly the bolt that's going to have issues. The extractor can magically disappear after a shot so it's best to keep one of those handy.

If you're like me and you just walk into the bush randomly until you kill stuff, you may end up staying the night. This is why I'm always going off about flashlights on the gun. When you're sleeping alone in the middle of nowhere and some critter decides to scare the #### out of you by shaking a salal bush 30 feet behind you, that's when you push the button and light that ##### up with 210 lumens of freedom and blast whatever it is until it wishes it was in an SPCA cage

Shoot...and I always thought you were being facetious when you've ranted about extra rails for flashlights and having had tactical dental work done so you can better grip your flashlight with your teeth!:D
 
y'know, i bet a fella could make a fairly good buck making a "rough" bolt and interals- ie a drop- in kit that could be lapped by a smith and you'd have a spare bolt- i mean in country
