5 round stripper clips fit very loose in the charger guide on my new Norinco M305. I used the 5 round clips with the old FN C1 and I don't recall them being so loose in the guide on the rifle. The clips are so loose fitting on my M14 that it's basically useless since the entire clip with the rounds intact will push through the guide and into the magazine instead of holding the clip in place as the rounds are guided into the mag. Is this normal? Are the stripper clips for the M14 different from those used with the FN C1?
 
it's a CASTING, just like on the m14, and the one of the fn was part of the body cover- yours may have been poorly machined, but it also woks "better" when you want to take the stripper clip out- you could probably take out the "looseness" with some jb weld and a dremel to form it properly, but i wouldn't bother- if you're going to go to a scope anyway, which a lot of people do- which involves the removal of the stripper clip guide- if you do want to fix it, make up some some jb, remove the guide, stick a stripper clip in it and form the jb around the clip( notice the correct use of the word clip) i'd use something like a syringe, and coat the clip in pam or something as a release agent
 
The M14's stripper clip guide is an invitation to destroy/shred/tear/cut/rip your thumb open; especially under stress! Don't kill yourself or your fingers. Seen too many people on my firing line hurt themselves doing the stripper clip top load (under stress), next match they all bring spare magazines. :D

I find strippers easier to use than changing mags. And yes I have bled a few times due to them.

Why is it that the cut on the firing line at a service rifle match is the one that won't stop bleeding?

Okay, so it is a problem with the guide then. Thanks guys. I just thought that since my mag only holds 5 rounds anyways that it would be convenient to load the mag with the stripper clips. I'm not going to bother trying to fix it.

My local gun guy usually has several from scope mount jobs. Might be worth your while to ask your local smith if they can sell you one cheap cheap. I like my guide and haven't lost any skin too it yet.
 
FN stripper clips worked great for me. Much easier than changing the magazine and you can carry more of them. Especially if that's the way the ammo came packaged.
