M14 Stripper Clip removal Hell

I took out the retaining pin for the stripper clip on my Norc (and broke my punch in the process) an I've been banging left to right, right to left... nothing. The damn thing won't budge AT ALL.

Any tips before I damage my gun?

Is the tip of the punch still in the hole? Or did that damage the parts in some way? I just tapped mine with a hammer using a brass drift and it slid out easily. I guess there could be wild variations in tolerances, but that sound ridiculous.

The hole is clear, but the clip guide won't budge... Is it supposed to move one-way only? like left to right or right to left?

i moved mine towards the side with the bolt stop

it is designed to be drfited out to the right (oprod side) and installed in the reverse order... but who knows if that's what happened on the assembly line. I have not met one yet that did not come out fairly readily with a stiff rap of a hammer and brass drift, to the left side of the clip guide, pushing it to the right.

EUREKA! finally got it. But it took allot of hard hitting... Thanks for the tips, I was starting to think I was doing something wrong.

As you found out, just use a bigger hammer
