Well was thinking of saving my pennies for a nice modern rifle (to compliment the Lee Enfields I am looking to buy) and i was thinking of the ar-15 or a m-14. I was looking at the springfield armory M1A and they look pretty good. I was thinking of the standard or the match. i like the M21 but it probably costs more then i will make all summer so its out. I want to attach a scope and bi-pod for a tactical kind of feel. Any Input?

You'd best be saving Loonies. Epp's is listing a 'Loaded' at $2947.19. They recently sold a Colt AR-15 HBAR for $1499.
A 'Standard' runs $2150ish at Goble's here in London. $2355 to $2699 for a 'Loaded'. National Match rifles run 3 grand there too. Supermatch rifles run about 4 grand. A Bushmaster AR runs between $1700 and $2400. They're not the least expensive shop though. You might find something on the Exchange Forum.

yay, i just sent away for a norc m14, my wife is gonna kill me...
I think the odd gun store might have a few or the EE has a few. Marstar, Frontier Taxidermy, and Dark International seem to be out according to their website. I would pick one up sooner rather than later because the price will go up and they will become harder to find.
Once you get hooked you'll want to spend more money all the time to feed your M-14 addiction. Too bad I also have an AR-15, a Remington 870, a CZ-858, and a Glock addiction.

I see you mentioned getting a scope and bipod. Whatever you buy, don't buy cheap mounts, scopes, or bipods. Buy cheap, buy twice.
