Hi fellow Gunnutz,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I got a Dominion arms Socom 18. I'm looking at swapping out the front sight post as I have upgraded the rear to a national match rear sight. What tritium front sight do I get? They all look to be different heights and widths? Thanks for the help fellas! Cheers

I've swapped quite a few front sights, I've never cared much for the "tritium" sights..... Not that they're not good, but I've never cared for glowing sights, I don't usually shoot in the dark....

There should be 3 heights to choose from. The middle or tall would be probably work best. I would normally opt for tall, and then file it down if needed, but you probably don't wanna file down a "glowing" front sight. So opt for the middle one.

The shortest one will be for 22" rifles and your zero would be fairly high up from bottom of the rear sight.

.062 width is the "wide" NM size. They also come in .032. Which may be a bit too thin to hold a tritium insert. But again, I could be wrong....

The "American" socom rifle had a higher base so it will utilize a "normal" front sight. So buying one that fits a M1A "socom" rifle will likely mean a 18 or 20 "click" zero.

If your current front sight is the right height for your rifle, measure it and then buy one close to that.

There are a whole bunch of different tritium or fiber optic sights on the market. A quick Google search shows about 5 different makes, with several models from each manuf..... So a bit more info would probably help.

The tritium front sight came with my Socom16. To tell you the truth I hardly even notice it (don't shoot in low light conditions). The post is also wider than the standard.
