Here's a recent review of the Ultimak mount we had discussed in some previous thread awhile ago.

I would like to try one with maybe a Leupold M8 scout scope.

From the Ultimak website: http://www.ultimak.com/M8.htm
Compatibility: The UltiMAK M8 mount fits only standard, GI spec barrels. In the current Springfield line-up, the compatible models are; M1A Standard, M1A Scout Squad, SOCOM 16, and SOCOM II. The "Loaded Standard" and all of their "Match" and "Tactical" models have heavier-than-standard barrels, which will not allow M8 mount installation. Chinese M1A clones have standard barrels and fit nicely with the M8 mount.

Very cool and detailed review by Jamie Mangrum. The post is very much appreciated. No one has addressed the question I have raised a few time regarding the "cooked scope" syndrome in relation to scout type mounts. From the testing Ultimak posted on their site, this hand guard mount seems to handle heat well.

Yeah, I think one of my three M305's should have a scout scope setup.:)
Take Hungry's advice and buy two - this wonderful M305 deal will not last forever.

They shipped me a ring for my aimpoint but it was only $25. IF the $100 limit is still in place they probably won't without all import/export permits. A few members here have these permits in place and I usally just order stuff through them.

Brownells sells other Ultimak products so maybe they can get the M14 scout mount as well.
Nice looking mount for sure!

ZuluMike, would these members mind having other CGN member order through them. I ask because I may be interested in ordering one of these Ultimak jobbies in the future and if I can't get it through any where else I'd still like to get one some how.
