M14 UTG TRI-RAIL installation

Hey guys,

do you have to take off the side rails in order to dissemble the tri-rail from the rifle?

got a rifle that comes with the tri-rail but no instruction on the installation.

No you dont , but be very careful taking the screws out with the allen key , the metal i found was very soft and i nearly stripped one when i was installing it .

When I installed mine a week ago the single bolt that goes into the receiver didn't line up properly. I filed the hole a bit and put downward pressure on the arm while I got the threads past that point.

I would loosen that bolt with an Allen key and then see if you have to put pressure on the arm to remove it by hand.

The supplied Allen keys seemed very sloppy in the screws too. I'm going to get some metric keys and try those.

Never had that problem with mine , all my screws locked up nice and tight .
I just wish the screws were a little bit harder .

Just curious, I had to shorten the rail about an eighth of an inch at the muzzle end to get it to fit.
Anyone else or do I have an out of spec 305?
I haven't had a chance to put any rounds through it yet either. Does it hold zero?
