M14

Wasn't going to reply because I don't want these things to sell out everywhere as I am seriously considering buying another one. My first m14 I have every bought, shot it at the range (after not having shot a rifle in 20 years--yep--true story) and was able to hit a 14 inch paper target at 200meters after tweaking with the iron sites (hit target on 3 of 4 shots). At 25 meters dead center every time. At 50 meters tight 3 inch group of 8 but still high and to the left. At 100 meters 6 inch group of 4 with no distinct pattern. Rear sights could not be tweaked further (??) (seemed stuck after I wound it all the way right) but this thing shoots straighter and easier then any gun I can remember firing. . .I can see why they are so highly regarded in the military world. . .putting a scope on it would kill the fun, bought extra mags, 500 ammo .308MFS and now thinking I need another one!

Read some negative reviews of head space checking etc. . .but I shot 80rds without on FTF. . .one thing I noticed is the bolt must be fed aggressively into the chamber or when the trigger is depressed the cartridge does not go off (because the bolt is not seated against the cartridge). Minor thing. . .noticed the same with my American made .45acp.

"...callin' it an M14..." It isn't. Neither is an M1A. It's not way over priced nor an evil prohibited rifle either. Go buy one. You can ignore the U.S. based internet nonsense about Norincos and head space, etc. too.
"...M305 is chambered in..." Same thing before there was an Internet. Literally millions of rounds of 7.62NATO (ball and otherwise) ammo has been fired out of .308 Win hunting rifles and the same amount of commercial .308 Win hunting ammo out of real battle rifles with no fuss whatsoever.
