My M14s bolt cants to the right when I pull it back. It rides straight right up until it meets the cocking spring, then it cants right and sort of digs into the receiver. I noticed some fine metal shavings occuring too.

There appears to be grease down there still, or should I really just goop it on? Or is there a non-grease-related cause for the bolt canting to the right and scraping?

One thing to look at

Not sure if this would do it but check to make sure the pin holding holding the stripper clip guide hasn't sunk down to where it's hitting the top of the bolt when it comes back. Probably would show a scratch on the top if that was the case but just grasping at straws here.

Nope, no mark on the top side of the bolt. There are some, I think, brass shavings in there, little hairs 3mm long and I think they're yellow (but it's hard to tell). I'll clean the whole thing and see if it's just a shaving caught in the track.

Because the bolt is sticking, somewhere, just as the face is entering the magazine well. I can let go of the handle and it will almost stay there, without a magazine inserted.
