Guess?
I have had an M14Doctor M14S-CQB stock for a couple of years now, and I love it, but the M14S has always been scoped. I acquired a Shorty this year and recently dressed it in the M14S-CQB stock. I found that the use of iron sights is not possible. The straight butt stock puts your eyes above the rear sight. Is this by design?

can't be sure, cause i dont own a stock like that but the oem stocks were lower, too low for a scope to be used comfortably.

Yes, the CQB stock is excellent with the ARMS 18 and 10x scope, just not irons.

I'd love to take part in this discussion in more detail.... But site rules must be respected so I'll just say this...
The M14S-CQB stock you (berger) have is one of the original versions. Those were made by grafting my original adaptor to usgi fiberglass stocks. Things have come a long way and a different adaptor was made to somewhat compensate for the hard to aquire irons.
These days, I primarily shoot my "CQB" shorty with irons or with arms18 and a leupold prismatic.
My shootin buddy runs his with a troy battle rail, aimpoint and Troy flip ups front and rear. Awesome rig to handle and shoot.
