Hi all,

I have an unidentified flash suppressor that I got in a previous trade.
Since I would like to take the Wellfare approach to the M14S/M305 when I get it, I would like to cut the barrel and mount the FS shown below.
Is this a good one or should I save up and get something better?

That looks like the FH from an SP1. Are you sure the hole is .30 cal?

Either way, the stock FH on the 305 works fine. Personally, I'd just leave it alone - the ULTRA welfare approach! :)

canucklehead is correct. That is an SP1 Flash hider with a .223 diameter centre hole. It will need to be bored out for the .308 bullet. I believe that may remove too much material, allowing the three petals of the flash hider to be forced outward by the muzzle blast of the .308.

Basically, the triangular shape of the petal becomes flatter on the bottom and has more surface area to be affected by the muzzle blast when you bore it out.

I would use a bird cage flash hider if you want to modify a flash hider.

But I'd like to cut and thread the barrel, both which I can do.
The thread on the FH is .50"x28tpi and the hole, at its smallest dia, is .320".
Would this still be wise, or get something else?

If you re- thread your barrel to accept the AR FH, you will be fubar if you want to install say a Smith type M14 Vortex at a later date.

Personally, I would get something else.

SKBY.
