M14s question

I have a chance at getting one of these rifles, I want to know what kind of reliability I can expect.
Do they shoot factory 308 ammo or do I have to reload, are they more reliable than the sks?
Any info would help because I know absolutely zero about them.

Read the main battle rifles section... there is more info than you could possibly ever want to know. And yes, factory .308 is fine, 150 grain is best.

I don't think they are as reliable as a SKS.

I have one of each,they are both reliable designs if maintained properly. Militaries don't often adopt jammomatics.

this has been beat to death- loads, reliablilty, prices, headspace, you name it- it's all here in the stickies and posts- esp anything by hungry , lazerus 2000, and a couple of others- long story short, yes, and they ARE as reliable as an sks, maybe even more so, and the 165-168 shoots BEST- although the FACTORY original load was a 147- i've got 3 isrealis and and an old norc and they've been shot extensively

I shoot the hell out of my SKS's, my cz 858 amd my M14 and I find all 3 to work flawlessly for me. I do however clean, lube, and maintain my guns very well.
