I know this has been answered before but darned if I can find it.I have been trying to mount a arms#18 mount to my norinco and have been having trouble getting it centered over the bore.So to make a long story short I stripped the 3/8 head mounting bolt and I need to know what the threaded hole in the reciever is,ie what size and thread pitch so I can clean it out.And if nyone knows where I can get a new mounting bolt.I have e-mailed arms inc and I'm waiting for a reply but if I can get it here in Canada it would be a lot less trouble.Any one else having any problems getting the mount centered? Thanks all

The mount must sit flush against the side of the receiver. You don't take any action to centre it. It is either centred or not as a consequence of the machining of the receiver and dimensions of the mount. The point of attachment that sits in the dovetail of the former stripper clip guide is there to stabilize the mount, not centre it. Perhaps that's where you went wrong.

actually I never had the attachment in the former stripper clip slot I was checking fittment and trying to see where the interferance was using grease as a medium to see where the slots were sitting and if everything was flat against the reciever it looks like the slots in receiver are a little to narrow compared to the ridges on the mount and they are not going deep enough into the receiver.I also was using a in/lb torque wrench set at about 70 in/lb just to seat everything after doing some filing on the mount, looks like I picked up some slag or something and there went the bolt

The original bolt may well have been selected for having soft enough threads that it will strip rather than the receiver. IE, don't substitute a regular bolt. I don't know the tpi and diameter, but there is another thread from last week on this subject.

If the threads in the Norinco are the same as USGI its 12-32UNEF. Goodluck finding one at your local hardware store, instead contact ARMS and buy one off them instead.

I did the same thing. Sadlak industries shipped right to Canada and the new bolt tightened right up without stripping.

I had an ARMS#18 not seating properly on the receiver and was giving excessive windage, I got it replaced, the new one is ok. Also sometime you need to remove some material in specific areas of the mount to make it mat to the receiver. Look for contact points of mount surfaces to the M305 receiver, it should not touch anywhere except on the M305 mounting surface.

Well I finally was able to mount my arms 18 scope mount,I had to take a dremel tool to the small ridge above the mounting bolt, and after a bit of trail and error it seems to fit pretty good.I have to thank Wolverine supplies for getting me a new mount bolt in a timelly manner.Got the tread chasing tap today from brownell and all that is left to do is get some lock tite 242.One thing I have learned is if I plan on taking mount off any more is to get some more spare mounting bolts as they only last for about 2 installs and strip.

my ARMS also would not sit centered.... however, i did not manage to strip the bolt :D

what i did find though is that if i held the mount in the horizontal receiver slot and held it tight by hand, and then tightened the 3/8 bolt...... the mount centered itself perfect....... if i did not put this pressure at the front of the mount..... it sits slightly crooked.... evry time. She's all on there good and snug now :D

Well I finally got the time to go to the range today, to try out my norinco, rifle works like a charm. but still having a real hard time with the scope and mount.I have a Bushnell Legend 5-15 scope and it don't have enough adjustment to center it,only about 1and a 1/8 turn from center,I am at my wits end trying to figure this out,I have mounted dozens of scopes on both bolt and lever guns and the odd simi and they where on the paper first go,Is my mount or do I need a better scope hard to say
