I picked up a few weeks ago a a Rifle REG as a M14s.
It has marked on the reciever Rifle M1A competion NM 7.6 It has a Bolt marked TRW ZJ Also a barrel marked NM,and trigger group marked TRW.
Nice GI stock wood, marked with the letter P in a circle and what looks like a Eagle in a square . GI sling GI cleaning Kit in the Butt:confused:.target sites and a scope mount. The stock has a hole hole just in back of the rear site.Fired a few RDS at 100 yds grouped one inch.
So anyone know what it is?? value??
Thanks for any help.

"...Rifle M1A..." That alone makes it a Springfield Armoury Inc rifle. 'M1A' is a trademark.
"...TRW..." They were one of the original makers of the M14. So it's got some milsurp parts in it.
"...letter P in a circle..." That's a U.S. military acceptance mark for the original rifle. None of those on SA Inc products.
"...pulled a fast one on the Registry..." How? It's a commercial rifle.
I'd guess it's worth a couple grand or so.

If it's an early SA M1A, GI parts are quite common. Originally the majority of M1A parts (Op rods, trigger groups, stocks and even bolts) were routinely GI since back then they were cheap and plentifull. Check out Different's site for in depth info.
