Well i finally did it i got a norinco m14s from one of the members on this board got a great deal and its stamped 2007 on reciever my question is what is the sloted screw on the side of my gas chamber for why does it turn 1/4 turn at a time with a pin going though it on the other side?

It's to shut the gas off so it no longer operates in semiauto mode. Was used for the grenade launcher attachment.

Well that was fast well i havent fired mine yet and i did turn it so ill find out when i take it out if its in the right spot thanks for the help...

the grove in the screw should run up/down
