M1889 7.5 Swiss, slugging barrel.

Swiss specification is 0.305 groove. 30 cal cast sized to 0.308. Never slugged any of the three 89’s I own. 308 Winchester cast starting loads work well. I have used 150 to 180 gr cast, they all work well. I don’t push the pressure up due to the weaker action. 16 grs of 2400 worked with the bullets I tried. I have one original 89 and two sporters. The original gets fired more than the other two.

Thanks, I have sized these first to .309,
I recovered some projectiles. There doesn't appear to be much rifling engraved. The barrel looks fine. The projectiles are fired into several layers of rubber belting. So they are roughed up
