M1911 colt

i have a fond spot for the 1911 platform, i have six of them. there are newer more modern pistols around but to me nothing else feels like a 1911. there are plenty of parts around to make yours your own. like a fellow CGN says dont buy one buy two.

Welcome to CGN...

On the Colt 1911... Where to start... Do you mean the original 1911 commercials? Do you mean the 1911 US Army/Navy versions.... So you mean the transitional model [going from 1911 to 1911A-1] between WWI and WWII.... Do you mean the WWII Colt USGI 1911A-1's.... Do you mean the post WWII commercial models... Do you mean the Series 70's models... Do you mean the Series '80 models.... Do you mean the various Gold Cup National Match models... Do you mean the Commander lightweight +/or Combat Commander models... Do you mean the new repro WWI/WWII and Series 70 models... Or do you mean the current commerical modern offerings by Colt? :p

IMHO.... the Colt 1911 is the standard by which all other 1911 copies, clones and near clones are measured by. There are current offerings by other makers that surpass the Colt but you generally pay handsomely for those. Then there is the much debated Norinco 1911 clones that arguably represent good value for the money.

Personally, in Colt, anything Series '70 and pre models going right back to the original commerical models get me excited.

That's my .02.................. ;)

Ya sorry bout that, anything 70's and prior is more or less what iam looking at to purchase, just wondering what is the best bang for your buck so to speak any opinions on this matter are more than welcome

You are on the right track... However, that said, you will pay dearly for anything in a Colt from the Series '70's back to the original commercial model 1911's. The Colt mfg military version 1911's and 1911A-1's have also gone thru the roof. That is in anything in decent shape... Good luck in your search, though. If you do snag one you won't be disappointed... ;)

P.S. Get access to the Equipment Exchange here on CGN... And watch it closely... When anything in a Colt 1911 comes up at a good price sometimes it gives new meaning to the term "gone in 60 seconds"... :p

I just fell in love with 1911's a while back. They are great. I'd like to find a WWI colt one day :)

They come thru on the EE once in awhile & are reasonably priced. But don't usually last long if so.... There are a couple on the EE right now if you do a search but sellers asking top dollar & one of them has severe 'finish challenges'... ;) :D

Never just an easy answer is there......

How about " mmmmmmm.......Colt"

Seldom will anyone every say anything bad about your colt .45. Some used ones have seen a lot of wear, so be sure to check them out. If you're buying a new one, the only ##### is the price, but they're all worth it!
