M1917 sling?

A poor photo, but the man is wearing a WW2 PCMR armband. This was a fairly irregular outfit, so I suppose that there were a variety of official and unofficial bits of eqpt used. It's not a Sterling sling. The Sterling wasn't in use at that time.
 
Possibly the same style sling as used on early winchesters? Just a thought as PCMR used a lot of Winchester rifles and the sling ends were the hook type. They would be the same as used on a Ross factory sporter. Just a guess.
 
Bren sling is a longer version of a standard Lee-Enfield sling. The one on this rifle is not a Bren sling. I'd post pics of the Winchester eyes but I'm up at school. Google Winchester sling eyes and you will find several photos of what I'm talking about. I'm almost 100% certain this is what we are looking at here, Winchester eyes with a leather sporting rifle sling.
