I wonder if an M1A was converted to manual operation, the port welded up and the gas system removed, would it then not be prohibited? I use mine shooting slow fire service rifle at 200 yds offhand and the rules for that state it must be fired one shot loaded at a time.Same for prone at 600. Humm??

This would not affect legal status.
It is on the OIC list as a named prohib. Doesn't matter if it is muzzleloading.

What I was wondering was , if these changes were made, would the powers that be consider relisting it as non prohib. Mine is a Super Match with the stock redone and looks sharp and will put 10 shots into a group you can cover with a 2oz shotglass at 200yds. Really don't want to go without it.

They don't care what you want, how pretty it is, or what you use it for. They specifically named it, and they can't let you have yours without letting everyone else have theirs. Welcome to the club. :)

Someone would have to come up with a new receiver and bolt that makes it a manually operated repeater. Like that Spectre Ar-15 dealy.

If the gas port were welded up and the gas piston removed it would be no different than a bolt action. But , never mind, it was just an idea to keep using it after all the work I put into it.

Our best bet for now is to contribute money to the court cases that are being filed. Since I am not buying at the moment, my gun budget was redirected to the gun orgs. If we all do the same, we have a better chance at using our rifles again legally in the future.

This, for now.

That’s you. For everyone else, the best bet are the various court challenges. But given the prevailing winds, the affected people will just have to decide for themselves what’s right, what they’ll accept, and what they’ll do.
