When you've humped that weight around for a few days (or hours), you'll start losing bits and pieces.

Hungry had a couple of "Oh $hit!" kits with those tools. He didn't carry them except from the car to the classroom.

The Castle Nut pilers are the only thing I would dream of dropping from the kit. :)

The kit is very light compared to everything else I carry including the rifle.

i just finished humpin an m14s , walnut stock, big ass 6-18x52 scope, bipod, 4 5/20 round loaded mags, similar field kit to dimitri, and my standard hunting day pack with all the necessities for game dressing , first aid, hydration and other essentials...... for 15 days of hunting, mostly on foot...... often finding myself 15 to 20 km from the truck by mid day. I am 160lbs soaked, suffer from a spinal/pelvic injury that's mine to keep and i did not find the rifle or the kit a problem to carry around. Actually, my m14s loaded up with it's kit..... weighs exactly 2 ounces more than my loaded out winchester model 70 7mm rem mag......

nice kit Dimitri, my only addition to that would be replacement firing pins, and a full G.I. roll pin set and a bolt roller greasing tool. :D

Didn't find any Firing Pins on Brownells site when I ordered the ejector parts and E-Gun wont ship M14/M1A parts according to them without permits.

This is my "do it all in under 5 days pack" ...

That pack weights alot more then the tiny kit on my vest. So not worried about so little weight when everything has been picked apart to shed as much weight as I can.
