I was reading on American forums that you can have your standard trigger group tuned to national match for $35 to $50. Is there a reputable armorer in Canada that can do something similar?

I don't know for sure but Casey at Tacord seems to be good at everything... he may be able to help you out.

He's got quick turnaround on work too.

Install the fallowing parts from treelinem14.com (will ship to canada)

your triger will be smooth as silk, takes about 20 minutes with help from youtube.

I thought you couldnt order trigger parts from the US? Also- do the parts line up and give you a heavy enough trigger pull to be safe?

Curious cause im in the market.

Aren't those just USGI parts? That's what I have in the Springfield M1a right now. Its really not bad, but not as smooth as my M1 Garand. The first stage is fine but the second stage is a bit creepy and grindy. Nothing wrong with the gun, I am just fussy with triggers...

I took it apart and polished the surfaces on trigger and hammer with 600 sand paper. Still a bit heavy for my taste and still a bit of creep but it feels much smoother and no more grindy feeling.

I think I'll leave it like that for now and just spend money on quality ammo.

You don't lighten trigger pull by sanding the hammer and sear bearing surfaces.
Any trigger work should be done by a professional with clear understanding of cause and effect of removing material and polishing sear angles.

For a do it at home job, do as Hungry suggests, watch a hockey game and #### and fire your trigger repeatedly for an hour or so ;) you WILL feel the difference.
I've fixed a few dozen triggers over the past few years that guys sanded , filed or otherwise modded.. Without a clear understanding of the correct steps to eliminate creep, stacking, grinding, ect.
There's lots of things on these rifles that are easy tweaks by the do it yerselfer.... M14 triggers aren't one of those things.

Yup, a 3 lbs M14 trigger is a junk trigger. VERY unsafe.
Simply swapping GI, garand and especially springfield trigger parts into your trigger group does not make a safe trigger. Sear angles and engagement surfaces still must be trued and adjusted for safe and reliable function.
If you have trigger questions, before you dive in, before you spend money, email me, my advice is free. I've successfully built and tuned a few hundred chinese and american trigger groups and have had a ZERO failure rate in the 5 years I was working on M14 rifles professionally. For what it's worth and in an effort to help you guys play safe, I don't mind offering advice based on my experiences so far.
