M1A Match Front Sight

Hi.
Just a quick question. Is an M1 garand NM front sight compatable with a M305.
Could be a silly question as the rear sights are interchangeable.

I believe that the dovetail is the same; however, the garand sight is bigger and would overhang the space allocated on the gas cylinder.
